With the all-new Bentley Bentayga Hybrid first appearing this year, you may be wondering if Bentley has more hybrid or electric vehicles in the works for the coming years. Hybrid and electric vehicles are quickly becoming a staple in the luxury vehicle segment, with vehicles like the Bentayga Hybrid offering the same level of performance and elegance, with increased fuel economy and enhanced dynamics. Looking forward, there isn't much concrete information available, but with an automaker like Bentley, you can always expect that there'll be even more ingenuity and advancement to come.

2021 Bentley Bentayga Hybrid

The new 2021 Bentley Bentayga Hybrid continues to offer prestigious styling, upscale comfort and cutting-edge technology and safety features in every model. Where the Bentayga Hybrid separates itself from other available Bentley vehicles is through its hybrid engine system. The Bentayga Hybrid uses a V6 engine that produces 335-horsepower and combines it with a 126-kWh permanent magnet synchronous motor, producing a total system output of 443-horsepower.

The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission that offers smooth and responsive shifting that you can enjoy wherever you go. The Bentayga Hybrid uses three modes: EV, which uses only electric power, Hybrid, which uses both electric and gasoline, and Hold mode, which allows the battery to recharge for when you want to enter EV mode. It even allows you to switch off the engine entirely and drive up to 84 mph in EV mode so you can enjoy a calm, comfortable cruise to Dallas on your morning commute, without using any fuel.

How Long Does the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid Take to Charge?

With a basic household outlet, the Bentayga Hybrid will charge in around 7 hours. However, if you upgrade to a 240-volt charger in your home or at a fast-charging location around Dallas, you can charge your battery in 2.5 hours. It's also speculated that the Bentayga Hybrid can achieve up to 16-miles of all-electric range.

When Can We Expect to See a Bentley Electric Vehicle?

It isn't like the prospect of building an fully-electric vehicle hasn't been on the drawing board from the engineers at Bentley for a while now, however, like with every Bentley vehicle, it takes time to ensure that you're creating the best, most revolutionary product possible. That's why Bentley announced recently that its strategy is to move to full electronification by the end of the decade.

Bentley has committed to offering a hybrid powertrain on every model by 2023, and will launch the first EV model in 2025. Bentley vehicles are known for offering large, powerful, and engaging W-12 engines, but with the advancement in engineering and technology, hybrid engines are able to achieve a similar level of performance without using as much fuel. At the end of the day, it's all about taking the time to ensure that everything is done in the Bentley spirit of things, which is checking all the boxes a second and third time to make sure that when you put a vehicle on the market, you got it right the first time.
